Go for it! I think the number 1 thing for a successful career in science is just being passionate about wanting to do it. Of course learning science can be tricky at times, which puts lots of people off, but if you enjoy it then it doesn’t even seem like hard work!

Always feed your curiosity, never be afraid to ask questions about things or look stuff up for more details. And the internet can be great for learning about science, there are so many excellent websites and youtube channels now 🙂

Maybe check out SciShow, they are always posting really interesting videos on new science

Totally agree with Sam. If you want to go into science, then go into science. Talk to your teachers about it: The will be able to give you some good advice. Visit or do an intership at a university or research institute and talk face-to-face with scientists (plus do some hands-on work yourself).

Below is a link from my research institute about opportunities for students to do interships or come and visit.

Obvioulsy the above is biology-related, but it gives you an idea of what you can do. There are many more programs that support schools and students out there. Again, get in touch with your teachers. Have a look on the internet as well. I’m sure you’ll find something for you.

Yes, go for it! I’d tell them to enjoy science as much as they can and not to give up their dreams. It won’t be easy, but I’m sure they will love it!
      Good luck!
