      Very good question Lucy.

Education is a key factor in improving all sorts of aspects of a country’s future. Better education gives the next generations far more prospects, allowing them to contribute to their society in more ways. More students inspired to study science and technology for example can lead to more industry opportunities, contributing positively to the economy and helping nations to develop.

At the moment a lot of the top students in developing countries end up leaving their homes to come study in Western countries, as there are no opportunities where they are from. This then leads to the problem of lots of them not returning when they finish their studies, depriving developing countries of trained experts they need!

If the state of education can be improved in these poorer countries, more students could stay and contribute, therefore letting them help themselves to develop in the future.

As Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” – And he knew a thing or two about helping people 🙂
