Sometimes I do, especially if I am doing a repetitive task to help me stay more awake. If I am writing however I don’t usually listen to anything with lyrics, as it gets distracting and you might even accidentally type something from the song into your work!

Like Sam, I sometimes listen to music when I’m doing something really simple. So the answer to your question is: “No, music does not help me to concentrate.”
But people (and their brains) are very different and if you think it helps you to concentrate than go and listen to music.

I find I need music to write, so it really helps with the creative flow. I also listen to music when I am identifying my fossils. I don’t listen to music when I am prepping teaching! When I write I tend to listen to quite up-beat dance music!! The faster I write the faster the beat!!!

Sometimes. When I’m doing something boring I need music to keep me going and even helps me to concentrate. However, when I need to be creative, like writing, I’d rather not listen to music because I find it distracting.
