• Question: What was your favourite topic in science at school?

      Hmm, I think it was genetics: Learning about peas and fruit flies and how scientists uncovered the heritability of traits from one generation to the next. That was really quite interesting as scientists have come up with many theories over time on the methods of heritability.
      I think I was pretty much the only one in my class to like that topic 🙂

      I really loved Chemistry, all those explosions, colours and fire were amazing, so much energy from something which looks so small and boring.

      I also loved electrostatics and the classical physics for the pure elegance of it all

      I actually didn’t enjoy a lot of biology as much at school, probably because there was a lot of plant topics. I enjoyed more practical lessons like chemical reactions. I had good teachers who did fun experiments like custard powder bombs and burning small amounts of thermite.

      I also enjoyed physiology a lot, with the highlight being a lesson where the teacher brought in all the internal organs of a pig, that he’d got from a helpful butcher!
